311...  'Member Them??

Aww... they're so cute and young! :)

311.  Where do I even begin!? Earlier in the Spring of '24 I was finding my love for 311 growing by the day.  The music, the lyrics, the vibe and feeling I would get just sitting and listening to 311 for hours upon hours.  It never got old, to me anyways...  After I got out of my little bubble I realized that there are SO MANY people that don't even know who 311 is!  😲 This was a shock to me, little miss small town Nebraska who had followed the guys since they began.  In High School our local radio station (Hits 106 in Kearney, NE) would play ALL of the music from 311 and a few other bands that people just don't even know who they are.  I realized that this was such a shame.  Here I am, 46 years old and trying to introduce music to people who already have their set taste in music.  It didn't really work like I thought it would.  My, "Hey, listen to this new song that 311 released at 311 Day", didn't go over too well with many people.  People my age actually didn't like 311 and it BLEW MY MIND.

I was blessed to be able to travel and see 311 four times this year. 👽👽👽 I even hit the 420 Festival in Kansas City at Grinders!  In June I took my kids (14 and 21) to their first 311 concert at the ONE and ONLY Red Rocks.  *insert coolest mom ever points here*  My daughter (14 going on 40) listens to 311 every single day.  E V E R Y  DAY!  She begs me to put it on in the Jeep when I pick her up after school and she admires each print that I get in the mail, each slap and yes... even watched the halftime show at the Raiders/Chargers game with me on Facebook Live.  (Shout out to Jaclyn)!  And, yes she remembered who you were when she saw your picture..

After seeing how I can get a 14 year old girl to react to 311's Music in today's world, I know that there are a lot of untapped listeners out there who would enjoy the music of 311 just as much as we all do!  So, I thought I would blog about my experiences with the band, the music, the fans, the HARD CORE fans, and what the words to each song mean when I hear them.  Trust me, I'm not a fact book on the history of 311... I learn something new every single day.

Like... the Crossfire Controversy?!? 😏😏

Over the summer, after someone introduced me to more and even more new 311 Music and after talking about songs and how they came to be or what the fans think of them I shared with them that I had thought about going through the music here and there and just writing out how each song made me feel.  And then.. he hit the nail on the head with the first song suggestion and I've been building up this little spot in my brain of lyrics and verses and singing the song like I'm singing it with a purpose.  So... first up on the docket - "Hey You".  Look at that, I learned something new again tonight... I had no idea that the guys even made a music video for this one.  Score!

So, kick back..  listen to a song or two and ... NOD YOUR HEAD TO THIS
